Impact Signature Initiatives

Impact presents a vision of Alabama in which its young citizens understand, appreciate, and engage actively in civic and political life - taking responsibility for building communities, contributing their diverse talents and energies to solve local and state problems, deliberating about public issues, influencing public policy, and pursuing the common good.

Based upon this vision, Impact comprises three signature initiatives.  These projects involve planning, organizing, facilitating, and fundraising for various events and activities that will initiate profound, positive changes in their target communities. 

In partnership with many community organizations, agencies, and colleges and universities, Impact is dedicated to developing and implementing substantive service-learning projects in coordination with students throughout Alabama. In order to fulfill this vision, Impact has created three “signature initiatives:” FocusFirst, SpeakFirst, and SaveFirst, which address community vision care needs, debate and academic preparation, and financial literacy and tax preparation, respectively. 

Through this comprehensive experience, Impact hopes to invigorate and energize young people in Alabama to become more civically engaged citizens and active participants in their communities.
